2008

Of course, this is another one of those days that really shouldn’t be there at all. It is a day that is just there. Remarkably, the day has only been around since 2008. As if only then did people start thinking about issues like decent, fair and dignified work. People were doing that long before then.
Even after that time, people continued to do this not only on the seventh day of October. Only we emphasise it on this day. Extra. It is a mirror and we may shout at it. Standing still alone is not enough, change is needed.

Modern slavery

Good working conditions, fair pay, respect, acceptance, safety… these are just a few examples of what you might mean by decent, fair and dignified work. In any case, it is not degrading work. Not modern slavery, although we don’t officially call it that. In practice, it does amount to it.

Zelfinspectie.nl

Whether it is coercion or circumstances under which it has to: it has to change. The only question is when. It starts with no other than you an there is a website. The website for those in The Netherlands there is a Dutch website zelfinspectie.nl.On this website, there’s a test you can take at this page. This test is all about working under the right circumstances.
