STDs and HIV
Education and access to contraception is not a given in every country. This not only causes unwanted pregnancies. It also ensures that sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) occur. Every year, millions become infected with an STD without knowing it. The best-known examples, immediately the most terrible, are cases of HIV infection.
It is a myth to think you can prevent everything. There is “something” to prevent in some cases. That is not always the case. It is about the people and emotions involved. Education and access are therefore essential. Education about what is safe and reliable can help here. In addition, affordability helps. At the same time, governments should take a responsible role. Not a dismissive role.
Sexual education
A major problem, worldwide, is unwanted pregnancies among young people. This is precisely why access to contraception and education in this area is essential. So the question is whether cutting back on things like sex education in schools is a good idea.
