Origin
Contrary to what you might think, the day has not even been around that long. Its history dates back to 2000. The idea came from Ted Kekatos. He was working as a system administrator at the time and saw in an ad for an HP printer that another system administrator was showered with gifts after installing a printer. He wondered why this never happened to him and so this day was actually “born,” as you can read in this article from Tweakers.
