In 2023, Queer Amsterdam will organise the Pride Walk for the first time and it will take place on Saturday 22 July. This Pride Walk will kick off Queer & Pride week.
This year marks the first time that Queer Amsterdam is responsible for organising the Pride Walk. This protest march is not new. Its history goes back to 2012 when the march was walked from Mercatorplein to the Gay Monument on Westermarkt. This march is there for a reason: it aims to draw attention to the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community and a call to stop discrimination and violence. In short, it is a march for emancipation. Long ago, not only individuals from the community itself participated in this march. Supporters and allies also participate in this Pride Walk to show support.

Route and parties

The Pride Walk starts at 12.00 at De Dam and the route will run via the Mozes and Aaronstraat, Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, Raadhuisstraat, Rozengracht, Marnixstraat, the Leidseplein, the Weteringschans, the Museumbrug eventually to the Museumplein. The Museumplein will then host the Queer Fest from 2 pm onwards. At the same time, the Waterkant X Roze Kwaku festival will take place on Marnixstraat between 16:00 and 24:00. This will give you a taste of what’s to come in Nelson Mandela Park a day later, as here. Also at the Gay Monument on the Westermarkt, a party will be organised, the Queer party “The Planet.” Applies to other venues as well. Which ones exactly, you can read in the programme that you can find here.

Queer Amsterdam
